The 2013 Homecoming will stay true to tradition with a few new improvements. Homecoming, beginning Oct. 21, will hold many activities for student organizations such as fraternities, sororities, WSGA and many other clubs and individual students.
KTWU will hold the “Downton Abbey” Tea at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Topeka Country Club to showcase the premiere episode of season four of “Downton Abbey.” The event, which began last year, will have many activities, including high tea, guest speakers, a Ralph Lauren fashion show and a preview of the first hour of season four of “Downton Abbey,” which will begin Jan. 5 on PBS.
The Washburn faculty gained a new member this year as Megan Otto, filled the position as campus minister. Otto, who began her career at Washburn just last month, leads Ichtus, the United Methodist Campus Ministry.

With its season nearing its conclusion, the Leavenworth boys’ basketball team is starting to hit its stride.
While the effort was there Tuesday for the Leavenworth girls’ basketball team, the result was not. Despite competing hard against the Olathe East Hawks, the Lady Pioneers could not come away with the victory, falling 48-36. Before transferring colleges from Kansas State University to Washburn University, my position at the Collegian was to report and to write articles concerning the K-State campus along with the Manhattan community
Currently I am a reporter and a writer for the Washburn Review at Washburn University. My duties include contacting sources, holding interviews, and composing upwards of 500 words an article. I contribute one or two articles per weekly issue.
During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to become a guest writer for the Leavenworth Times in Leavenworth, Kan. I covered several basketball games, men's varsity and women's varsity included.
